Did you hear the news? The Sox are going to sweep the Tribe this week, and here’s why:
1. Cliff Lee. Lee is 6-1 with a 1.37 ERA, 46 strikeouts to 5 walks and an impossible WHIP of 0.792. The Sox will not face him this series, instead drawing a C.C. Sabathia who’s been showing cracks, an Aaron Laffey due for a brutal outing, and noted author Paul Byrd, whose kicking of the juice should make his junkball style hittable again.
2. Javier Vazquez. Currently atop the AL in strikeouts, but more importantly has only walked 12 batters in 58.7 innings. Byrd’s been alternating good and bad starts, and if this holds up Tribe pitching is doomed on Wednesday.
3. Carlos Quentin, Nick Swisher, and Every Other Sox Position Player Whose Termination I Demanded This Winter. Jermaine Dye’s reliable again, Joe Crede didn’t forget how to play, and A.J. Pierzynski is thriving in the #2 spot. This may not seem like much, but Cleveland is still the only team with greater offensive woes than the Sox right now. Three White Sox games, three White Sox winners. Believe.
